Just Like Clockwork (orange)?

Any one remember this? It’s one of those bumper stickers that never got wide circulation. I happened to pick up at the Democratic National Convention in Boston in 2004 when I was covering the story for My9.

I have a whole bunch of political keepsakes from both parties. Ever since I threw out my grandfather’s “I Like Ike” button, I now keep everything. Way back in 2004, Barack Obama didn’t have much stuff. I don’t remember any bumper stickers. I sure would have grabbed one. And for history sake I would have snagged one of the signs you see in the video as well:

The New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association asked me to donate a recipe for their cookbook a few months ago. We talked about it today on New Jersey Now. I don’t usually do “plugs” or advertisements here on this blog, but in this case I made an exception.

There was a t-shirt that I saw several years ago that said “Blame Me, I’m with the Media”. It was one of those novelty t-shirts. Somebody thought it would be funny to get a bunch printed up.

It did get me thinking about a question I am frequently asked.

Why does the news always have to be so bad? Why are you, “The Media”, always so negative?

Well, we’re not always negative, we’re just doing our job. But just for a change, let’s do the news your way.

Don’t allow your kids to read this. Sometimes it won’t be “appropriate” for children. They’ll pick up some nasty habits.

No, I’m not about to make a ”shocking” gubernatorial admission here like the “Luv Guvs” of New York and New Jersey. It is, however, an admission of a nasty secret I have harbored for most of my life.
